Katy Perry Hosted The Least Watched VMAs OF ALL TIME

Complex - The MTV Video Music Awards are facing a huge ratings slump.

According to the Washington Post, this year’s award show drew a total of 5.4 million viewers, making it the lowest-rated VMAs in history—or at least since 1994, when Nielsen started measuring the show.

But this year’s historically low viewership wasn’t exactly shocking. The VMAs has seen a steady decline in ratings for the past several years: 6.5 million watched the 2016 broadcast, 9.8 million watched the year before, and 10.3 million tuned into 2014’s. The highest-rated broadcast was 2002’s with 11.95 million viewers.

Oh my god. How many L’s can one person take? How long until Katy just has to call the vacuum repair man and just live the rest of her life out in a cabin in New Hampshire? It wasn’t enough that nobody bought her new album? Wasn’t enough that she had to postpone her tour because nobody would buy tickets? Wasn’t enough that she had to live stream her life as a plea for attention, and all that anyone really took out of it was that she was desperate for attention? Despite all of that, all of those L’s, MTV still picked her to host the VMAs….and what happened? Lowest ratings in the history of the show. I mean…at some point, the world just needs to cut their losses. Katy is dunzo. Taylor Stay King.

PS: In the interest of fair and balanced journalism, people are making excuses like “but Game Of Thrones was on at the same time”. To which I say sarcastically “well, I guess this was the first time anything else has been on TV during the VMAs”. GoT being on is no excuse. Not even the same audience watches the two. People just don’t want to watch Katy Perry do anything.
