I've Got Something Of A Take: I Think The Red Sox Outfield Dance Is Bad For The Team This Year

I want to put this delicately because I LOVE the Boston Red Sox outfield. It would be impossible for me to choose which individual player I love the most because I care for them all like they’re my own children. JBJ, Mookie, Bennintendi… I’m absolutely obsessed with all of them. Even watching that gif right now I’m having second thoughts writing this blog because they’re such adorable and amazing creatures.

Nonetheless, I can’t get behind the outfield dance again (unless we sell t-shirts at some point and then it’s the best thing ever). I’m not saying that they can’t have a gimmick, they definitely can, but this one just isn’t different enough from last year. Yes, the new little shimmies are added but the focal point is still hitting them folks and therefore it’s too similar to last year’s.

I’m not going to boycott wins over it or anything like that, but let’s just say I’m a little disappointed. I feel like once the magic of something is used up the gods get mad at you for trying to hang on to it, you know? Imagine if the Sox tried to do blood, sweat, and bears again after 2013? It would be silly and they would’ve come in last place or something crazy like that.

In order to be a successful team you absolutely need some kind of stunt or goofy device like this, but you can’t re-use it year after year. It’s got a shelf life and after that runs out I fear it becomes a poison rather than a pro. It brings bad luck rather than good. I’m just one man talking here, but that’s my superstition.
