Little Leaguers Voted Bryce Harper As Their Favorite Player, Mike Trout Isn't Even On Their Radar

MLB - Despite being veritable celebrities of their own, the Little League World Series stars still idolize the professionals.

Before the 2017 tournament, players filled out questionnaires on a variety of fun topics, ranging from superstitions to nicknames (read more later this week) to their favorite Major Leaguers.

The result? A three-way tie between superstars Jose Altuve, Bryce Harper and Aaron Judge for favorite player among all participating in the LLWS.

Harper earned the majority of votes among U.S. players, while Altuve ran away with top honors among international players. Judge drew a strong and even split between the two groups.

While former NL Cy Young Award winner and MVP recipient Clayton Kershaw did not crack the top five among U.S. Little Leaguers, he is the second favorite player among the international teams, with David Ortiz, Felix Hernandez and Yadier Molina in a three-way tie behind him.

This isn’t a Trout vs Harper “who is better?” blog. You can look at numbers and stats and all of that and draw your own conclusions. Plus, the idea that Trout and Harper have to be rivals or some shit like that is so outplayed. They’ve never really been rivals, at all. They are just two of the biggest superstars in the sport, and are treated as so.

Wait.

Take that back.

They *should be* two of the biggest superstars in the sport, and *should be* treated as so. And this once again shows the big disconnect between Trout and the baseball viewing world. Trout should be a mega-star. He’s been in the league for 6 full season and has been ROTY, 6x All Star, 2x MVP, 5x Silver Slugger, and a slew of other awards and honors. And kids don’t give a fuckkkkkk about him. Not a fuck.

Now, this doesn’t all go on MLB. Trout has the personality of a lamp shade. He isn’t exactly Mr. Electricity out there, and he doesn’t seem to care about becoming a celebrity or a house-hold name. But it’s kinda crazy that he can’t even crack the little leaguers Top 5 Favorite Players list. He might go down as the best player they’ll ever see play, and they don’t even list him above Yadier Molina.

Maybe it just is what it is. Some guys move the needle, some don’t. Maybe Trout will go his entire career being the best in the world, and other guys like Bryce will be the fan favorites. Not really anything wrong with that or anything, but it’s just fascinating how Trout still doesn’t make a splash with the younger crowd and still doesn’t have that mainstream publicity.
