Should Professional Golf Have An Official Skills Challenge? (The Answer Is Yes)

As if I didn’t already love Jordan Spieth enough.

This video isn’t breaking news. It’s pretty well known that guys attempt this during the practice rounds on No. 16 at Augusta National before The Masters. But I could watch it all day.

This got me thinking. Golf needs an official trick shot challenge and it needs to be nationally televised.

Like, yesterday.

I know they already screw around all the time anyway, so why not let the world watch and put some money on it? How entertaining would that be? The PGA is trying to reach a younger audience, right? We love the Happy Gilmore shot, right?

This really is a no-brainer.

The NBA has the dunk contest. MLB has the home run derby. The NHL has the target challenge. The NFL has a Pro Bowl Skills Showdown.

Yep. We need in golf and we need it now. Can you imagine the best golfers in the world competing once a year for, let’s say, a million dollars doing stuff like this?

Sold. Give the people what they want, PGA.

Might I suggest doing it around spring break at Baker’s Bay?? #SB2K18

In the meantime, let’s just relive Paige Spiranac’s HOF trick shots. (And don’t forget, this happened too.)

Happy Hump Day, Stoolies.
