I Was So Excited To See Shohei Ohtani Pitch At Yankee Stadium On Sunday Before He Decided To Be A Coward And Run Away From the Moment

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim v Toronto Blue Jays

Most of you are probably expecting me to go apeshit with a whole rant about how Shohei Ohtani is a coward. About how he knows he was going to get the shit booed out of him at Yankee Stadium and is simply running away from the moment like a child. About how it’s complete and utter bullshit he’s being pushed back for “workload management” when it would be a full week on Sunday since he’s last thrown a baseball. How every single one of his starts have come with a week apart from each other, besides one. Maybe Hubbs from the Winter would have reacted this way, but I’ve learned to control my anger and save it for when my team gets trapped in an airport overnight.

All sarcasm aside, this is so fucking lame by Ohtani and the Angels. Shohei has captivated the baseball world with his incredible ability to pitch and hit at the major league level. He faced Luis Severino in Anaheim and belted a home run on a 97 mph fastball in on the hands. Right after that, he rolled his ankle and sat out the rest of the series. He’s now healthy again and has had a great month of May on the mound so far (3 starts 2.25 ERA 26 Ks 5 BBs). Granted those starts have come against the Mariners, Twins, and Rays, but he’s looked dominant at times. What better test than to see him in Yankee Stadium against the likes of Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Giancarlo Stanton, Gleyber Torres, Greg Bird, Didi Gregorius, and everyone else? What was even better was that Masahiro Tanaka was scheduled to oppose him for the Yankees. Want to talk about the entire baseball world tuning in for a May baseball game? The entire country of Japan would have watched those two go at each other and ratings would have bounced off the chart. Now Ohtani just continues the narrative that he’s petrified of stepping foot in New York. Some are calling it a case of Davey Price-itus. It’s a tough look for Mr. Ohtani and a stupid move either way you slice it. Who knows if the Yankees play the Angels in the postseason and Ohtani is tapped to pitch on the road in The Bronx in a must win game? Experience would probably have suited him well if that becomes the case.

Run and hide Shohei. Run and hide.
